Okay so there's a Reddit thread with 84k upvotes where a guy admits he drove four hours to his buddy's Thanksgiving just to "help with dishes." His buddy has been married six years. Nobody has ever offered to help with dishes before. The comments figured it out in three replies. The son's friends started showing up at 2pm instead of 6pm. Offering to carry groceries in from the car. Asking if there's anything else they can do. There is nothing else they can do. They just want to stand in the kitchen.
